On a perfect day to bat we lost the toss and went into the field to bowl. Peter Unerkov in his first reds game got an edge to keeper Matt Slack in his first over 1/0 for the third innings in a row by him. Runs flowed slowly and in the 13th over Jack Packer came on and grabbed 2 quick wickets and 3 overs later he had 4. At 5/68 off 19 overs we were hopeful of a quick finish however 2 lads swung often and hard and quickly the score raced to 140 at tea. Straight after the break Liam Greber broke through but their tail continued to wag and some dropped catches kept us in the field for 55 overs. Jack Packer 5/59 off 16 overs, Peter Unerkov 2/35 off 12 and Liam Greber 1/35 off 12 were the best of the bowlers. Jack Bear and Luke Pedlar saw us safety to stumps 0/3 needing 197 off 60 overs to win next week 🙂 Sent from my iPhone

SACA in their wisdom have changed this round to a 20/20 fixture which is frustrating at such late notice, but there it is!!!
The A GRADE now take on Northern Districts at The Paddocks #1 from 12 Noon in a 20/20 fixture. Players need to ready to warm up and ON THE OVAL BY 11:15. It is VERY IMPORTANT that EVERYONE is on the oval and ready to warm up. There is no reason not to be on the oval, bowling, fielding, hitting up or helping with hit ups. Everyone needs to be doing it together and we do it as a team. This is now a very significant game after last weeks loss. We not only lost but our percentage is terrible. There are only 2 teams that make the final in 20/20's, so if we want another game on Adelaide Oval, we need to get the record straight this week.

Adelaide Uni are putting on a day at Uni oval where all 5 B Grade games are being played. It would be great if the A Grade girls were able to drop in after the game to be a part of it. The B Browns are playing from 3:10pm. I will send an email that came from Uni / SACA with the details after this one.
The B GOLDS get things underway on Sunday at University #2 from 12:00 Noon against Port Adelaide. Players need to be there (if possible as i know we have players playing Turf games in the morning) ready to warm up by 11:15. Golds looking for a win after 2 close losses.
Emily Armstrong (C), Lauren Semmens, Amy Kaesler, Sarah Ferris, Jess Murray, Matilda Ronan, Maeve Edwards, Ayisha Salah, Olivia Mulvany, Georgia Iannella
(At this stage i will be able to be there to assist KC with set up, warm up and scoring. Plus whatever else KC needs as long as he buys me a drink!)
Following the B Golds the B BROWNS will take on Northern Districts Orange also at University #2, from 3:10. It would be great for the team to get there early to watch the Gold team play and support fellow Kensi players.
Chloe Frick (C), Rachel Church, Tiff Thackeray, Ursula Gully, Sarah Fraser, Sophie Roberts, Amy White, Stacey Walton, Shaina Altman, Cassidy Perkins.
(Cassidy is this week in the Brown Team. Occasionally due to absences we will need to shuffle some players between teams, but we will endeavour to keep this to a minimum)
Good Luck to everyone this week. Lets get 3 from 3 and have all teams on track for finals spots.

It is a very sad day today with the funeral of George Cotsios.
George is the father of Michael who has been part of the Kensington family for many years.
We pass our best wishes and thoughts on to Michael and his mum Kathy in these very difficult times.
Kensington players and members need to know about the insurance that the Club has and how to make a claim.

Captain Christian Leddicoat won the toss and sent Port in to bat on a soft pitch perfect for bowling if we found the right line and length. Samuel Warrick got us off to the perfect start 2/0 in his first u/14 game both clean bowled with the second over of the game. All bowled very well but some dropped catches kept us in the field longer than we wanted. We got the 10th wicket in the 52 over for 96 runs. Liam Greber bowled well but without luck 0/16 off 12 overs, and the wickets went to Samuel Warrick 3/9 off 11 overs and Sam Rahaley 2/11, with Lachie Cox, Jack Packer, Ben Belperio, Will Rice and Christian Leddicoat all getting 1 wicket. With 6 overs to bat Jack Packer and Liam Greber batted cautiously taking us to 0/15 at stumps. Day 2 was a great cricket day for our boys. Jack and Liam took the score quickly to 58 in the 13th over before Jack was out for a handy 26. Sam Rahaley joined Liam and they put on an fantastic partnership of 114 in 15 overs before Liam was out for an excellent 58 and Sam for a stunning 74 off 43 balls. We declared at tea with a lead of 97 but more importantly 34 overs to get 10 wickets. We needed only 28 as Liam Greber in a man of match performance torn through the batsmen taking 5/10 off 9 overs. Jack Packer took 3/8 and Port were all out for 43. An outright win and a super team effort by all 🙂 Greg Slack
Kensington has had four players chosen in the State SAPSASA boys cricket team for this season.
Well done to Charlie Bear, Sam Rahaley, Samuel Warrick and Campbell Watts on their selection. The team will travel to Brisbane for the national championships from January 8-16th 2016.
The full team is listed here.
The girls SAPSASA team will be finalised shortly.
Day 2 and the opposition had only managed to muster 9 players as they resumed their second innings at 0/11. The bowlers were primed and on what looked a reasonable deck we set about getting 8 wickets to chase an outright victory.
It all unfolded quickly as we systematically went through the line up picking up wickets at regular intervals. The bowlers were right on the money , focussed and bowled excellent line and length attacking the stumps resulting in 6 of the 8 wickets bowled or lbw. The innings finished at 39 over’s with the result Pt Adelaide 8/50. Bowling honours were shared with the captain Adam taking 3/12 off 9 over’s to go with his first innings 4 scalps . James DuPreez bowled an excellent spell and netted 3/5 off 9 over’s giving him 6 for the match. Riley Slack got his seasons wicket taking underway again bowling superbly with 1/6 off 8 over’s and Ashley picked up 1/7 off 6 over’s.
The other highlight being a great effort by Arham Hasmi at bat pad under the helmet to snaffle a slick catch off a great short ball off James. All in all an accomplished performance both bowling and fielding.
We needed 46 to secure the outright and new players to Kensington Harry Edmonds and Liam Nichol got the job done 0/51 off 16 over’s. Liam 25* and Harry 19*.
Now on to the rest of the season as the opposition will become a far greater challenge but if we play our roles as we did in Match 1 we will give a very good account of ourselves .
Well done and a great first up win.

As we have most players available this week we have an extra player or 2. Before Christmas it is possible that this may occur on occasion where a player will be rested for the week. For 20/20 games we are able to play 10 players but only able to bat 9. For the rotation, players will not be rested for more than 1 game except for extraordinary circumstances. Most weeks i envisage this will not be an issue due to players being unavailable for various reasons.

Turf nets out of action tonight due to the rain and the hard wickets are being repaired.
Really keen to still train so will shift indoors to the Gillespie Centre tonight. We’ve got 6 nets booked from 6:00-7:30pm. It’s where we had preseason – Cross Road, Edwardstown.
New season , first game and 5 new players to the U16s and near perfect conditions. Ford oval looked a treat and the weather gods were friendly.
With that in mind the pitch had a little tinge of green and was little soft in patches.
New skipper Adam Clements had his magic coin won the toss and asked the opposition to have a bat.
Ashley Eckermann got us of to a near perfect start removing the stumps second ball . 15 over’s later we had them 5 for 18 and it was looking good. A 40 run partnership followed by a 15 run partnership occurred before we finally got the 9 wickets we needed ( the opposition with only 10 players ),final score 9/72 off 40 over’s.
The bowling was excellent with the skipper leading the way with 4/16 , James Du Preez an excellent spell 3/10 , Ashley 1/10 and Arham Hasmi 1/2. All bowlers played their role and fielding was also a generally very good .
We set about our batting with new U16 players Angus Marshall (from last years U14s) and Harry Edmonds new to the club opening the innings . The intent was evident immediately to get the runs quickly. We lost Harry for 4 to be 1/13 as another new player to 16s Will Montgomery (also from last years U14s) joined Angus.
We then proceeded to put on 64 runs off the next 12 over’s with the highlight being Angus hitting the ball all over the park in an aggressive 43 off 42 balls with 6 fours. Angus unfortunately out in the 12th over of the innings.
Jed Spence joined Will and they soon took us past the total to 2/77 off 16 over’s before we made a decision to declare and have a crack at the outright. Will not out 22 and Jed not out 6 .
Extra points are very important early in the season so we had a 9 over spell at the end of the day but were unable to grab an early wicket as the opposition went into pure defence mode with little scoring intent. The day finishing with Port Adelaide 0/11 off the 9 over’s.
We resume next week needing to make the game happen on our terms and push for early wickets. All in all an excellent start and showing promise for the season ahead.

We are very excited to announce the appointment of Carolyn Dittmar as a coach at Kensington this season. Carolyn has enjoyed a distinguished career as both a player and coach at State level, with SACA’s C Grade medal (now in hiatus) named in her honour.
Carolyn will join current coaches Kevin Frick and Kevin Crosby at trainings, and will take responsibility for the A Grade on match days.
It will be wonderful to have someone of Carolyn’s calibre add to our coaching team, and the players will benefit greatly from her involvement at the club.
We welcome Carolyn to the Browns!
FREE WI FI at the club and new sightscreens Yes it is official, from tonight we have launched Free wi fi whenever you are the club. This will be great for live cricket updates from Parkinson oval and check out the new sightscreens. They look brilliant thanks to Craig Duguid, from Kinnier Constructions for the great job. These replace the old ones that have served the club well over the last 60 years. Go the Browns !! Gary Slack Bonnetts Saddleworld
