Grand Finals are won and lost by intent, attitude and team focus and our boys have heaps of all three !Chasing 151 to win off 60 overs was always going to be a comfortable chase for the quality of team that we have, however finals can complicate things 🙂 The opening two Sturt bowlers were quality and dangerous and had been the best for them all season. Our plan was to have our first three batsmen take them effectively out of the game by batting the first 12 overs and only being 1 down. Mission successful 🙂 1/17 after 12 overs and this would then allow our stroke makers to come in and take control of the game. Matt Slack and Sam Burgess played their role superbly before Matt was out in the 14th over and this bought the skipper Christian Leddicoat to the crease determined to win back to back premierships off his own bat. Sam Burgess and Christian batted superbly taking the score to 77 before Sam was out for an excellent 29. Sam Rahaley strode to the crease and with Christian they completely smashed Sturt mentally and physically ! The ball was hit to all parts of the ground and over the boundary and when they had 4/5 on the boundary the boys just picked up singles, magnificent to watch if you were in the Kensington camp , batting maturity beyond their years :)Christian departed for a superb 64 with us only needing 23 off 19 overs with 6 wickets in hand 🙂 Sam and Jack Read cruised to the line for another belting of Sturt after beating them by 5 wickets only 3 weeks ago. Sam Rahaley hitting the winning runs with his third massive six ! The banter and confidence from Sturt leading up to this game put a smile on our faces and the banter continued all game long however they were very quiet when we shook their hands and thanked them for the game and we still had smiles on our faces but they did not 🙂 Kensington boys do their talking with the bat and ball ! As I said at the start Premierships are won by teams and what a team we had ! , backing up from winning the Under 14 White Premiership last season. Congratulations boys you have created some history at Kensington as this has not been done before ! A few highlights to finish on , Christian Leddicoat 658 runs @ 65.8 Competition Batting Trophy Liam Greber 25 wickets @ 9.72 Competition Bowling Trophy Under 14 Red Premiers 🙂 Plus many sensational and selfless performances throughout out the season by every player to win us another premiership 🙂 well done boys the club is very proud of all of you 🙂
