Kensington v West Torrens
In a strange programming anomaly, round 8 of the 50 over competition was played on Sunday, prior to round 7 being played. With the Strikers WBBL losing their semi-final to the Sixers on Friday, both sides were boosted with star inclusions, so a tough battle was envisaged. West Torrens won the toss, and decided to bat on a beautiful pitch on Park 25 # 3. Losing their first wicket to the returning Katelyn Pope (4/31) in the 5th over, their innings imploded, and they were soon dismissed for 49 in the 22nd over. Captain Sarah Lowe was again economical and effective, taking 2/6 from her 7 overs. Eliza Doddridge, who has been in great form with the bat in recent weeks, proved her all-rounder status cleaning up the tail, taking 4/7 from 3.1 overs, including a hat-trick. A great double, having scored a century against the same side 4 weeks ago. Needing 50 to win, Eliza and Rachel Church made light work of the chase, scoring the winning runs inside 11 overs.
We now have a 2 week break from 50 over cricket, before returning with Round 7 on February 25th.
