Round 10 v Sturt, Berri
After breakfast in the communal dining area, and checking out of our rooms, we wheeled our cricket bags and gear from the caravan park to the adjacent oval. Apparently the pitch at Berri had been difficult to play on Saturday, and winning the toss, Sturt asked us to bat. Again boundaries were hard to come by, although Ash Gardner decided that clearing the ropes was the way to go, with a massive hit into the grand stand.
scoring was steady throughout the innings, with most batters making a contribution, posting 6/102 after our 20 overs, Kelly Armstrong top scoring with 26.
Sturt started the run chase cautiously, and they never really got close to the required 5 an over. At the half way mark they were 2/31, and ended at 4/69 after their 20 overs, their total flattered by 22 wides! Best of the bowlers were Ash Gardner 1/6 from 4, and Shae Daly 1/7 from 3.
So, with 2 wins over the weekend we secured top spot on the ladder, and get to defend our T20 title next Sunday morning at Adelaide Oval.
