U16 whites vs Glenelg What a thriller !! Browns get home with 2 overs to spare for the outright win! What at day it turned out to be at Marryatville High school with high pressure all the way through. Kensington started the day at 6/58 needing another 24 runs for victory after restricting the Bay’s to 81 in their first innings. We lost 5 wickets for 1 run to be reeling at 9/59 and then all out for 64 after only 3 overs today. Not the result we were looking for !! Anyway the chance of going for the outright became a reality when we soon had Glenelg 4/6 in their second innings. Superb bowling by David Hamaan, Finn Hiberry,Riley Slack,Ben Cox and Cooper Harrod had the Bay’s in knots. A small partnership of 26 was created and then skipper Luke Valente introduced his trump card Arham Hasmi who created chaos with 4 wickets for only 7 runs in 4.5 overs. The Bays were all out for 56 and we now had 22 overs to reach 75 and take the outright points. Sam Carruthers struck a fluent 18, Rory Illman smacked 15 and the master and commander Luke Valente guided his team to victory with a brilliant 36 not out. An outstanding captains performance by Luke. Home with 2 overs to spare in an outstanding effort by a very determined team. Jed Spence was great with the gloves, it looked as though he has been the keeper for many years. Team manager Grahame Spence did another brilliant performance guiding the team and Walter Hamann outstanding with the scoring. Well done Whites, a great team performance.
